There's three places where this could be done:

- we could add timeouts to probes::EchoPing::pingone (where echoping is
  actually run) and fix only this problem.

- probes::basefork::ping already has timeouts for the children it forks, 
  it just isn't smart enough with them.

- we could also add timeouts to Smokeping::run_probes for any probes that
  are running too long. 

I suppose the second one is the right place - I'll try to come up with
something when I get the time.
