[smokeping-users] Graphing data gathered by smokeping using mrtg?

I'd like to have a seperate display for packet loss instead of having it
color coded in the median line; since I'm already running mrtg on the same
box anyway, extracting the data for use by mrtg seems like an obvious
approach.

using rrdtool fetch file.rrd AVERAGE --start now looks like what I need; is
this a reasonable aproach or is there a better way to tackle the problem?
