[smokeping-users] restore fails

I'm attempting a smokeping v1 to v2 upgrade.

I want to keep my old v1 smokeping data so I follow
this procedure

1) shutdown smokeping (v1.38)
2) dump rrd files to XML (using v1.0.49 or v1.0.50
rrdtool)
3) upgrade rrdtool (either 1.2.6 or 1.2.11)
4) upgrade smokeping to v2.0.5
5) attempt to restore rrd files from xml

At which point I get this error

rrdtool restore
/var/lib/smokeping/World/Inside/nis.xml
/var/lib/smokeping/World/Inside/nis.rrd
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption
(!prev): 0x0804a050 ***

Any ideas?
