I have already tried that but this is not working. When I restart the
smokeping it says unknown variable "to".

Chander,

I believe Tobi means that you put the "to = admin at company.xy" in the
particular target section of the config, which then overrides the global
setting for target.  Something like this:

+++ UCB

menu = U. C. Berkeley
title = U. C. Berkeley Webserver
host = www.berkly.udi
to = admin at company.xy

yes, you can configure an alert recipient per 'target'
