[smokeping-users] Sudden font problem "failed to load /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf"

All over a sudden our smokeping won't draw graphs. Instead, it reports:

failed to load /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf

# ll  /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf
ls: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf: No such file or directory

# dpkg -S /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu
ttf-dejavu: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu

# dpkg -L ttf-dejavu |grep DejaVuSansMono
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-Bold.ttf
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-BoldOblique.ttf
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono-Oblique.ttf
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf

So that font is NOT installed. But why did it work? Where do I specify
the font?

This is smokeping 2.0.5-2 on Debian.
