Niko, take a look in the following results:
fping -b 8148 -C 5 -q -B1 -r1 172.16.254.150
172.16.254.150 : 86.02 69.94 69.15 103.19 87.92
fping -b 8149 -C 5 -q -B1 -r1 172.16.254.150
172.16.254.150 : - - - - -
As you can see, in the first test I've used 8148 bytes and in the second,
8149 bytes.
For some reason fping doesn't accept values above 8148 bytes.
Cheers,
Edinilson

Hi,
the 4096 is because there's a buffer of 4096 bytes in
fping.c:wait_for_reply()
that's used for the received data. However, according to my tests (on Linux
2.6)
this only affects the processing phase, not the actual data on the network.
So, in effect fping is lying about the size of the received data.
I don't really understand the original problem, though. Smokeping doesn't
care about the size of the data fping reports. It calls fping as 'fping
-b<size> -C<pings> -q -B1 -r1 <hosts>', so the response doesn't even
contain the size part. If fping considers the ping successful, smokeping
should be OK with that.

getting any graphs (although it would be a bug in Smokeping, of course.)
