Message-ID: Hi *All*, I have installed Smokeping using the Debian packages, and I'm indeed loving its wonders, especially, the Multigraph functionality. There are certain network devices that show a latency of *8-10 micro seconds *, and are displayed right above '*level 0*' of the X-axis. Hence, it becomes difficult to read the same. Is there a way to show the value as numbers when one moves the mouse over the graph? Thanks, Jim =-=-= -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... However, SmokePing simply uses the rrdtool methods to generate a graph, and you can perform some manipulation of vertical scale data with rrdgraph. So... if you were willing to modify the SmokePing source code, you could probably accomplish what you want (by changing the parameters it passes to the rrdgraph functions). However, there is no out-of-the-box option to do this AFAIK. > _______________________________________________ > smokeping-users mailing list > smokeping-users at lists.oetiker.ch > https://lists.oetiker.ch/cgi-bin/listinfo/smokeping-users > -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I managed to compile and install rrdtools-1.2.27 and smokeping2.0.9. When starting smokeping, I am getting the following: # ./smokeping ### fping seems to report in 1 milliseconds RRDs::create ERROR: step size should be no less than one second Note: logging to syslog as local0/info. Daemonizing ./smokeping ... # Smokeping is running as a daemon, but no databases are getting creating in the datadir. I have smokeping running successfully on multiple HP-Risc servers, this is the first install I'm doing on an Itanium server. How can I work around the Error "RRDs::create ERROR: step size should be no less than one second" Any help would be very much appreciated Thanks in advance Annemie Witters **************************************************************************************** Note: If the reader of this message is not the intended recipient, or an employee or agent responsible for delivering this message to the intended recipient, you are hereby notified that any dissemination, distribution or copying of this communication is strictly prohibited. Message-ID: <15124-1276101583-716051@sneakemail.com> I am trying to collect statistics on a link that occasionally has ping times easily five times its norm. ?For example, the data I'm interested in right now is: 9.99 10.0 12.8 13.3 14.6 15.2 15.5 16.1 16.4 17.3 18.2 18.6 20.7 35.2 89.9 383.7 443.9 509.1 The graphs that smokeping generates, however, seem to crop that data out, and that's the data I'm actually most interested in. ?The graph that contains that set of data has its max at about 35, which means that the top four data points are not shown at all. How can I modify smokeping so that the graphs always show all of the data? ?I've tried commenting out the --lower-limit, --upper-limit, and --rigid arguments in Smokeping.pm, and it moves in the right direction (max 40), but the data is still not all showing up. -- Bitt Faulk From ged at jubileegroup.co.uk Wed Jun 9 19:16:36 2010 From: ged at jubileegroup.co.uk (G.W. Yeah, I tried that, and it doesn't help. There may be a little more visible data, but not much. Also, I would really like these huge pings to stand out graphically as much as they do when they happen interactively. This results in multiple time-period graphs being displayed - for example "Last 3 Hours" (pings from the master) and "Last 3 Hours from slave1" (pings from the slave). Please note that prior to becoming a master the host was acting as a standalone smokeping instance - and is still configured to do pings of its own. My initial thoughts are that either my config is nested incorrectly or that the master should no longer be configured to do any pings - and should now only receive data from slaves. Some information about the alert will be passed on as arguments to the script. From the SmokePing documentation: *to* /(mandatory setting)/ Either an email address to send alerts to, or the name of a program to execute when an alert matches. To call a program, the first character of the *to* value must be a pipe symbol "|". The program will the be called whenever an alert matches, using the following 5 arguments (except if *edgetrigger* is 'yes'; see below): *name-of-alert*, *target*, *loss-pattern*, *rtt-pattern*, *hostname*. You can also provide a comma separated list of addresses and programs.
