[smokeping-users] Changing Steps of a Probe

It IS possible to 're-aggregate' the data from the old file into the new
file if you write a custom script to do it. By its nature, it's not a
perfect transfer (e.g. if you had steps=12 before and you have steps=20
now, and you have a sample that had 1 lost packet, do you scale up to 2
lost packets or down to 1 in the new data? Both results skew your
percentages. Plus, for the older samples, you're aggregating an
aggregate, which itself loses accuracy...) but at least it gives you
SOME kind of historical basis.

This approach can also be a significant amount of work as (AFAIK) no one
has released a ready-made script to do it. I've never been attached to
my history enough to bother, and I try not to change my database
settings after it's running anyways.

If you're really, really tied to your history and want to put the work
into it, it is possible, however.
