Thank you Tobi,

rrd tool is also doing averaging, what I needed - to keep data for a long time without averaging, so I modified a bit mrtg perl script to log data into mysql db on each run and accidentally  noticed this log file discrepancy.

Hi Dmitry,

this is correct, the logfile interval is 5 minutes no matter what
... if you want more flexibility, switch to rrdtool as the logging
backend!
