In and out are in reference to the port of the router you are watching.

If I point cfgmaker to the borderrouter (uplink), I get two graphs, one for the serial port, one for the ethernet port.

So traffic comes FROM the internet INto the serial port, and OUT of the ethernet port (INto whatever you have inside)
