ok, thanks to your guidance, I've been able to come up with this.
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/ucd-snmp/ --with-mib-modules="host"
this loads the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB.txt (sorta) into the compilation process
of UCD-snmpd. after you compile and restart the service you should be able
to load the host-etc.txt file into your favorite mib parser and walk the
host. I was able to come up with various oids but I am pretty sure that
they are machine specific so you might be able to use these, but no
garunties...
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5.101 total real memory
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.5.102 total swap memory
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.101 used real memory
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.6.102 used swap memory
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.5 number of users logged in
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.1.1 real system uptime (as opposed to snmpd running time)
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.2 real memory (i don't understand the difference between
this and the one above)
hope this helps you guys, let me know if I'm totally wrong in doing any of
this..

Subject: [mrtg] UCD-snmpd / multiple MIBs
This is 'cross-posted' to both MRTG and UCD-snmp group due to the nature
of the problem -
it really is NOT an MRTG problem, but that was were the message was
orginally posted
In answer to Joey's question...
>>> For anyone running UCD snmpd.
# snmpwalk -V
UCD-snmp version: 4.0.1
>>> I've read over the manuals, and the FAQs
>>> based on UCD snmpd's package, but here is my
>>> problem. I don't know which MIB file to read
>>> in. I've tried HOST-RESOURCES-MIB.txt, and
>>> UCD-SNMP-MIB.txt. the host-resources-mib.txt
>>> file compiles properly so that I can read the
>>> OIDs, but they all come up empty. ucd-snmp-mib.txt
>>> doesn't compile at all.
I have a 'Linux' machine 'iceberg' that actually has the UCD-snmp with
the correct mib compiled -
# snmpget -q -f iceberg public
host.hrDevice.hrProcessorTable.hrProcessorEntry.hrProcessorLoad.769
.iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.host.hrDevice.hrProcessorTable.hrProcessorE
ntry.hrProcessorLoad.769
14
OID is 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.769 which you will need for MRTG or at
least
that is what it turned out for me...
Problem isn't knowing which one to use, but getting UCD-snmp to have the
MIB in it.
I actually have 'Iceberg' CPU utilization being graphed, but
'''''I don't know how to get a UCD-snmp build on solaris to 'contain'
it...'''''
The guy will not give me an account on his machine to poke around and
try and figure it out...
Seems that you ran into the same ''blank'' that I did...
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB.txt is the Correct 'MIB' - but I have yet to figure
out how to read it into the
compilation process of UCD-snmp.
Any help? This is as far as I have gotten, and I still am looking...
Can anyone help?
Robin
