[mrtg] Help need

Hi mrtg users.

I have a question.

I am trying to compile this mrtg vver 2.8.8
This uses libpng.  
According to the web page, I am supposed to compile
zlib and libpng and gdlib statically.

Well, there is problem.
zlib-1.1.3, I could compile statically.
libpng-1.0.5 I could compile statically.
But when I tried to compile gdlib, I could not.

Here are errors I get.

but when I use non static compile, it works just fine.
but mrtg says.

 thongvilay:/home/skel/mrtg 130 >mrtg mrtg.cfg
ld.so.1: ./rateup: fatal: libpng.so.2: open failed: No such file or
directory

PROBLEM: rateup died from Signal 9
 with Exit Value 0 when doing router 'fe0-0-gw1-bet.bet.kivex.net'
 code was 9, retcode was . If this happens all the time,
 you should probably investigate the cause. :-)

P.S. by the way, did anyone notice sometimes, confirmation letter, after
