Get a copy of Getif -  (mentioned in the archives as well as on the Home
page of www.mrtg)

Do a search for the RFCs (request for comment) and you will see the OIDs
defined.  (they are also called MIB entries).

Each vendor has a private section they can use for what ever they like.
Also there are common sections that everyone is supposed to fill in.
Like User, IP addresses, Interface cards and ports etc.

This is what the 'Show . . . ' commands read to determine what to display.
