Clint, 

Yes, MRTG polls the routers for data, passes that data to rateup and RATEUP
builds the log files.  If you want to build your own log files the format is
in the /doc directory in a file called logfile-format.txt.  Then you'll need
to figure out how to call rateup again so that it builds the gifs.  There
may be info on how to do this hidden in something in the contrib directory.
