Alex,
    You should critique the snmp values by using "snmputil" for NT or 
"snmpgetone" for unix. Every five minutes run these and manually check for 
accuracy. For NT, you will need the resource kit. 
    You are right, there are two log files which  subtract to get the delta, 
which is then plotted.
