[mrtg] prefixes

I have a snmp unit that always report data in kB, sometimes the
data becomes 1024 kB and more. mrtg then sets the ShortLegend
to kkB. Is there some way of letting mrtg know that the data returned
always has the prefix 'k' so that 1024kB becomes 1MB in the ShortLegend?
I've read the info on the kMG option, which I think is what I'm looking for.
Am I on the right track?
