[mrtg] Watching Unix boxes?

Hi,

I would like to monitor an OpenBSD box, a Linux box and an external modem
connected via serial port to the OpenBSD box.  Does anyone know of a book or
an indepth howto/document on monitoring this type of equipment with mrtg?
(I would like to get detailed stats on about everything (network, cpu,
processes, users))
