Today you sent me mail regarding [mrtg] bug in beta mrtg-2.9.0pre14?:

if you remove the / mrtg will not query by IP address anymore ... 

queriing by IP takes time ... very simple ... not sure why it
should be so much slower though ... you may want to enable
debugging to see if the interface cache gets reread on every run
...
