[mrtg] Can the Interval be smaller than 5 minutes?

I need MRTG monitor switch smaller than 5 minutes,when change the interval
=2,and run MRTG ,it occur the error:
CGF error in "interval" ,line4:2 should be more than 5 minutes.
why not MRTG could collect data smaller than 5 minutes?
would you help me?
