mrtg needs some time to collect the data and to create the web pages and
graphs. Thus it has a lower limit of 5 minutes.

If you use rrdtool as backend it is possible to use a shorter interval.
mrtg-2.9.* will allow 1 minute as shortest interval (with rrdtool). You
could try the pre-releases (but of course: it's beta!).
