[mrtg] Threshhold Checking

I have a router interface that I'd love to be able to use threshhold
checking on.  The problem is is that the ifInOctets, which I'd like to
use for threshhold checking is an incremental counter.  Can I implement
Threshhold Checking on an incremental counter?    Some way of saying if
the interface doesn't increment so much between a certain period of time
then we most likely have a problem?
