MRTG uses "rateup" to do the database processing.  RRDtool can been seen
as the successor to rateup.  Originally it was not intended to replace
rateup in MRTG v2.x however Rainer Bawidamann has written an extension
to mrtg which was merged into the real MRTG.

RRDtool is a separate program which you need to download and compile
apart from MRTG.  You can also find it on Tobi's website.  Just change
"mrtg" into "rrdtool" to get:
