[mrtg] Weird Rateup error

I changed the cronjob from root to an actual user on the system. I ran a
chown -R on the mrtg directory. I checked the mail, and I keep getting
errors like this

/home/mrtg/run//rateup: Permission denied
Rateup Error: Can't open 164.179.248.146.4-day.png for write

and

PROBLEM: rateup died from Signal 0
 with Exit Value 1 when doing router '164.179.248.146.2'
 code was 256, retcode was . If this happens all the time,
 you should probably investigate the cause. :-)

Any ideas?

I'm stumped on taking out the extra "/" for the path to rateup.
