I might be able to point you in the right direction on a couple of these:

Subject: [mrtg] some questions

hy,
i have some questions concerning mrtg:

1.)
when using a maxbytes value of "500000000" (= 4gb link) and option "bit"
set, then the graph of mrtg scales to 320mbit and has a dotted red line at
300mbit. is there a max value for maxbytes? how can i set it higher?
>Take a look at the .cfg file for this specific example. You probably have
two lines in the .cfg: one that starts with 'MaxBytes' and one that starts
with 'AbsMax'. 'MaxBytes' corresponds to the dotted red line on your graph.
'AbsMax' is the number above which mrtg will discard data as unrealistic.
Adjust these two values accordingly. Read the 'config.html' file that came
with mrtg for more info; also on the web at
http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/config.html

2.)
i want to run mrtg as demon, but i dont want to restart it every time i make
a new config-file. does someone have an idea of how to implement that mrtg
re-reads the config every hour?
>don't know

3.)
i want to show the utilization in % instead of mbit.
i used the formula ((( 3:public at rm2s014e.mah.roche.com ) * 8) / 1000000) for
a 100mbit link (which is "((rec-octetets*8)/bandwidth[=100000000])*100").
but mrtg only uses integer values in the graph, so for example 1.9% becomes
1% in the graph. is it possible to get it to use floating-point values with
1 decimal behindt the . ?
>don't know off the top of my head, but this has been discussed a bit on the
list. Try searching the archive, referenced at the bottom of every email
sent to the list.

4.)
is there a guide on how to use rddtool with mrtg? and where can i get
rddtool binaries for nt?
>Try the 3 excellent tutorials at
http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/rrdtool/tutorial/

tnx,
michael
