[mrtg] MRTG on Alpha Linux (SuSE AXP 6.3)

Hi! 

I'm trying to get MRTG run on SuSE Linux 6.3 AXP (for 
Alpha-Systems) 

My Problem: MRTG 2.8.8 and 2.8.12 dies with

--------------------------------------------------------- 
PROBLEM: rateup died from Signal 8
 with Exit Value 0 when doing router 'rou10.9020'
 code was 8, retcode was . If this happens all the time,
 you should probably investigate the cause. :-)

though the same minimal config (standard config made by
cfgmaker) works on my x86-Linux with MRTG 2.8.8.

There seems to be no libary-problems.

This looks like a bug to me. Can anybody help?
