I have to agree with Brad here..  A customized script is what you need.  We
use a highly customized script here that graphs everything in our network
(about 10,000 items total) and grabs it's data from out monitoring system
which is linked to our ticket system which...  well, you get the idea..
Customizing a script for your environment is probably the solution to your
problem.  If you need help with this, contact me off-list and we can chat..

It's true this is a difficult nut to crack, change mgt is always a bear.
What I did to try and ease *movement issues* is to have the target name be
"RtrName.ipAddr" (ie Rtr1.192.100.100.44). So ising the ip address as
suggested works for us. In this sense when things change (at least within
the router) the new config picks up using the same target name because it
is tied to the ip address. So long as we keep the address we are ok with
change within the router. We rebuild the configs each night with a script
which pulls in any new routers or changes in speed. I'd share but it is
highly customized to our environs but you get the idea.
