[mrtg] wrong speed ?? any ideas

quick Q.

been using MRTG(BTW, great tool !!!)  for several years, pulling data from
CSCO CAT switches

now i have a need to  use MRTG to pull SNMP data from SUN solaris 2.6
servers, cause they are plugged into a 3COM 100M hub

i am getting conflicting results with respects to link SPEED
   MRTG is showing 10M
   SUN solaris command # ndd -get /dev/hme link_mode  is showing 100M

NOTE, this is the first time we have tried to pull SNMP data from a NIC on
a server

any ideas help would be appreciated,
