[mrtg] not seeing errors

i am pretty sure i am getting drops or errors on an oc3 on a cisco.  but
mrtg is not showing them.  i have three graphs, base, errors, and
discards.  and the latter two show a constant zero.

the base target is

Target[foo]: /66.42.7.11:foo.bar:::::2

and the two error targets are

Target[foo.e]: ifInErrors/666.42.7.11&ifOutErrors/666.42.7.11:foo.bar at feen.foon
Target[foo.d]: ifInDiscards/666.42.7.11&ifOutDiscards/666.42.7.11:foo.bar at feen.foon
