[mrtg] CFGMAKER Suggestion

Howdy Folks,

I've had an idea I want to run by you kind folks... Feel free to shoot
it down.

CFGMAKER has a number of options such as "--no-down" and "--subdirs". I
was thinking about the following:

Firstly, "--no-down" shouldn't even list administratively down
interfaces in the config file, it should just eliminate them
altogether.. I know some of you like having them hashed out in the
config file just so you know they're there... but I like clean little
config files

Secondly - and perhaps more importantly, I find it useful to have a
script that re-generates all of my config files every night. because I
use "--ifref=ip", this means I don't get my .rrds all messed up thanks
to changing ifindexes.

What would be *lovely* is a new tag in CFGMAKER like "--cisco-cpu",
which adds the generic cisco 1 min and 5 min OIDs into your config
file. This could be extrapolated into whatever else people think is
important. Why not build mrtg-ping-probe capabilities into it? Have a
"--ping", so that your MRTG server pings the device as well.

Then when you use 14all.cgi (you *ALL* use this brilliant bit of code
don 't you!??!?), you'd get a lovely index page with interfaces, cpu and
response time. ALL IN ONE PLACE!

Now I know I could do this by having my config regenerator script
concatenating template files after they've been created. however I think
it would be much froopier if cfgmaker did it. 8-)

Ok, tear me apart. 8-)

Cheers, Jas
