[mrtg] rateup died from signal 0

I am running RH 6.2 and was successfully running MRTG 2.8.?.  After
installing MRTG 2.9.2 and using the same Workdir I began to get the
following message.

Rateup ERROR: /home/monitor/mrtg/bin/rateup found 10.31.1.2_16777219's log
file
was corrupt
          or not in sorted order:
time: 971637166.Rateup WARNING: /home/monitor/mrtg/bin/rateup The backup log
fil
e for 10.31.1.2_16777219 was invalid as well
WARNING: rateup died from Signal 0
 with Exit Value 1 when doing router '10.31.1.2_16777219'
 Signal was 0, Returncode was 1

Reviewing the error I decided to clean out the Workdir to remove and
date/time or file format issues.  I have also tried a re-install and clean
wordir. Neither of which has resolved the problem.  No errors were reported
during installation.  The mail archives seem to indicate that there are a
few others out there encountering the same problem.

I am seeking a suggestion as to what I may try next.  Thank you in advance
