I do the same, but because we are using Sun Management Center, I just poll
the the SMC kernel-reader-mib.
There has been quite a bit posted to the list about SNMP on Sun Solaris...
maybe someone should bundle up an FAQ or some instructions for /contrib?
Hope everyone had a great weekend (and that all your systems were quiet! :)
)
Thanks,
Bruce

You need to install an snmp deamon on your servers. Solaris come with an
snmp-deamon, but frankly it's not that good. My advise is to install
ucd-snmp instead - you'll find it at http://ucd-snmp.ucdavis.edu/ (or
did they recently change it to net-snmp?).
ucd-snmp comes with MIB-files to translate numeric OID's to strings and
strings to OID's. You can use snmptranslate (?) to do the lookup.
I made our cricket configuration directory availabe at
http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~ragnarkj/download
Even though we now use cricket and not mrtg you should be able to
extract interesting OIDs from the configuration files. (to support all
the OIDs used in theese configuration files you need to compile ucd-snmp
with extra options).
