[mrtg] Forks: 4 gives invalid data

HI all!
I just installed 2.9.2 on a RH 6.1 machine and have been using 2.8.12 for
many months now w/o any problems.

I wanted to try some new features like ifref=descr , RunAsDaemon, Forks,
etc.
However I just observed that Forks: 4 option gives invalid data when run
with a cfg files created with ifref=descr and with ifref=name as well.

I get HTML page with following data:
------------------------------------
The statistics were last updated Tuesday, 24 October 2000 at 19:42,
at which time 'public at gw-3640 Descr Serial0/0 2' had been up for
public at gw-3640 Descr Null0 24.
------------------------------
which is completely erratic ! and this data is evident in the
corresponding log file as well.

I also get lots of these on the console:
----------------------------------------
Rateup ERROR: /usr/local/etc/mrtg-2.9.2/bin/rateup
found gw-3640_serial1_7's log
 file was corrupt
          or not in sorted order:
time: 972395880.Rateup WARNING: /usr/local/etc/mrtg-2.9.2/bin/rateup The
backup
log file for gw-3640_serial1_7 was invalid as well
WARNING: rateup died from Signal 0
with Exit Value 1 when doing router 'gw-3640_serial1_7'
---------------------------------
I also have the following zombie processes along with the above:

5703 ? Z 0:00 [mrtg <defunct>]

However I do get a normal data with default option (ifref=nr) and Forks: 4
as well. I also get normal data if I don't use Forks with the same cfg
files created with ifref=descr or ifref=name options.

I feel there some kind of incompatibility with Forks option and cfg
files created with the new ifref options.

I am not so confident to try editing the mrtg file to incorporate the
changes given by Tobi and I prefer to wait for an update instead.

Rgds,

\\Ritesh
