[mrtg] using MRTG to graph cablemodem

Hello List

I am trying to graph the SignalNoiseRatio of DOCSIS Cablemodems.

My problem is the values returned are as shown below like '37.6 dB'.
MRTG seems to have trouble with the characters in this string. Am I
right with this...? Or is there somebody who is already doing this...?

Is the only possibility to cut off the ' dB' with writing an external
measuring software which gives the numbers back to mrtg...?

Thanks for you inputs.
