Dave,

I've written scripts that troll the MIB, checking each modem for status.
Count those that are on-line and write that to a MRTG Target file.

Next build your Config file with a MaxBytes of the number of modems in the
pool.  Make it Unscaled.  Then your chart will show the number of modems
active and the MRTG 25, 50 and 75 percent lines will give you a feeling for
percent active.

At least that is what I have done.
