[mrtg] target interface

I'm trying to target a specific interface on a cisco, I get a 'snmp error'
with the following command.

./cfgmaker --global 'WorkDir: /home/httpd/html/dirname' --global
'Options[_]: bits,grow
right' --output ./mrtg.custname.cfg --ifref=name
Target[1]:5/0/0/12.3:public at a.b.c.d

The interface is Serial5/0/0/12.3.


I tried ifref name, ip, descr and nothing. I have read the target info but
can't seem to figure out hoe to specify and interface.
