[mrtg] stupid question

Forgive me for asking this, but...

Can you run the base mrtg setup and the rrdtool implementation
simultaneously on the same server (Windows) ?

I am seriously thinking about implementing rrdtool in place of my standard
mrtg setup. 
 I am not 100% comfortable with the whole rrdtool process and  do not want
to mess up my mrtg graphs/logs/configs, etc.  in case I change my mind.
