All values by default are measured in Bytes by MRTG.
Just ask yourself, what do you call the measurement you want to monitor?
ie
HDD - Mega Bytes
Memory - Mega Bytes
Circuit - Kilo Bits, or Mega Bits
If you call the measurement bits divide it by 8, else don't do anything to
it.

Do you want to graph the difference between the current and previous value?
Yes - don't specify GAUGE or ABSOLUTE
No - Gauge or Absolute

BTW 'integer' has nothing to do with the type of graph, it just removes the
decimal point and any number after it from the summary lines.
