[mrtg] Thresholds

I have been looking for more documentation on the Thresholds option.
I have looked at all of the FAQ's and found very little.
Is there any documentation that actually gives an example of the thresholds
option that works.
I have been working on this off and on for months and still cant get it
work.
Is  Tom Muggli around to answer questions.
