Robert,
One way of doing this is through aliasing.  
Create an alias to a valid distribution list or email address then set your
root mail to be sent to this address.  When Cron notifies the root at localhost
(your alias) of the problem, it forwards it to either the distribution group
or email address.

Is there the possibility to send an email to some group of the people if
some of monitoring resources are not available? 

Well, on the unix comp., I get the mail on the local machine, but that is
due to cron services. I need to send this on some smtp server with proper
customized notification that some monitoring services or link is down.
