On the Cisco CSS, there are a number of mibs that encode literal strings in
the instance, e.g:
snmpget -IR 192.168.10.10 apCntByteCount.\"virtualbriefing\".\"virtual_3\"
enterprises.arrowPoint.apMgmt.cntExt.apCntTable.apCntEntry.apCntByteCount."v
irtualbriefing"."virtual_3" = 2853621810
trying to encode those literally in MRTG seems to have disastrous results:
[root at watchboy www]# /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrtg-debug mrtg-debug.cfg
--tarp: Starting 192.168.10.10_virtual_3 ->
apCntByteCount."virtualbriefing"."virtual_3"&apCntHits."virtualbriefing"."vi
rtual_3":*****@192.168.10.10:::::2
--tarp: Starting 192.168.10.10_virtual_5 ->
apCntByteCount."virtualbriefing"."virtual_5"&apCntHits."virtualbriefing"."vi
rtual_5":*****@192.168.10.10:::::2
Operator or semicolon missing before &apCntHits at (eval 6) line 1.
Ambiguous use of & resolved as operator & at (eval 6) line 1.
Array found where operator expected at (eval 6) line 1, at end of line
Bareword found where operator expected at (eval 6) line 1, near
"168.10.10::::"
(Missing operator before ::::?)
ERROR: Target[192.168.10.10_virtual_3] eval warning: syntax error at (eval
6) line 1, near ""virtual_3":"
Any suggestions welcome. I think I could hack up MRTG_LIB.pm, but I don't
want to break future upgrades.
