i dont' think that is true,
some firewalls (i'm pretty sure PIX included) can act as a bridging
firewall, where it acts as a bridge/switch between two different LANs and
filters packets going back and forth. This is similar to how a
localdirecto does load balancing. In this repsect, there is only one
subnet, one IP address (purely administrative), and two LANs
I've never set a PIX up that way, but I'm pretty sure it's in the docs.
