There are some files missing in 1.8.4 that are included with 1.8.3 that it
looks for that was giving me problems. I went back to 1.8.3 and everything
compiled smoothly.

I had this exact same problem just yesterday with the very same load out.
Solaris 7, the whole bit.
What caused it for me was using the new version of gd, version 1.8.4. I'm
not involved enough to know why, but I can tell you that I had to back down
to version 1.8.3 before it would compile, which it appears you have. If you
started off the same way, I can only suggest you back up and re-compile
gd-1.8.3. If you get completely frustrated, do what I did. Wipe
/usr/local/src and /usr/local/mrtg-2.9.10 clean, unball all the packages
again and start over. I did get it to work.

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem in the "make" por tion of the MRTG installation on a
Solaris 7 box. Your help would be much appreciated.
Here are the software that i used and followed the step by step instruction
on the MRTG home page.
GNUgcc version 2.95.2
Perl version perl.5.6.0
zlib
libpng-1.0.8
gd-1.8.3
mrtg-2.9.10
Here's the output:
# ./configure --with-gd=/usr/local/src/gd --with-z=/usr/local/src/zlib
--with-png=/usr/local/src/libpng
