Before tweaking the MRTG configuration to polling on intervals less than 5
finutes, you have to consider the fact that the SNMP object MRTG is polling
is based on a parameter that the router (or device) usually by default
captures in a 5 minutes interval. If you want to have polls for less that 5
minutes, you have to make changes the Managed device too. For example, in a
Cisco router you can modify that parameter by using the following command:
Bart#conf t
Bart(config)#int s0
Bart(config-if)#load-interval ?
<30-600> Load interval delay in seconds
The default is 300 seconds (or 5 minutes). If your equipment is not a Cisco,
your device must have a similar option.
