[mrtg] MRTG ver 2.9.7

Hi,
    I have seen the server, Pentium 111 on Linux is having a high load 
(almost 150). It is monitoring more than 500 interfaces at 5 minutes 
interval. I'm using the above version of mrtg. I have stag the time and 
running about 7 cfg files as a cron jobs.
Does anyone know what could it be the problem ?
