[mrtg] MRTG and changing index.

I have monitored ATM subinterfaces on a CISCO 7200 VXR but whenever I add
new users I lose the lines I was monitoring.  The graphs seem to no longer
pulling the data from the interface.  My question is which is the best way
to monitor ATM subinterfaces that will not go blank when I add or remove
subinterfaces?  Should I be using the descr option in CFGMAKER?
