Easy answer :

EVERYTHING is possible with MRTG, as soon as you can "feed" it with
numerical values. Whether it is with SNMP, a system command, an external
script or a magical wand it works!
The most used is with SNMP.

It is very easy to set up what you want to do. Install SNMP on your server
(depending of the OS), and install MRTG. Use cfgmaker (a script that
automatically build a config file) and that's all!

Of course, read the docs in MRTG and the FAQ if you have any problem. If you
are stick with a big problem, just drop a question on this list.

You can have everything running in 1 hour to a lot more depending on your
knowledge of OS, network ....

Good luck.
