well....you already hit the nail on the head, I think.


If you are using a script to get the number of mails, it will be a gauge, not a counter.
Right? I am assuming that running the script does not produce an increasing result, but
rather produces a number that is independent of the last value - in other words, it tells
you how many mails were processed over the last 5 minutes, not a running total. If that
is how your script works, then you need gauge.
