I've been having the EXACT same problems! We're running MRTG on a few Cisco
6509s and 7206s, and we have these spikes that last for, at most, a single
polling interval (5 minutes). I should also note that we have ONLY seen
this behavior since we upgraded to 2.9.10 from 2.8.12.
Since one of the main reasons we're monitoring these circuits is to see if
utilization peaks, it doesn't do us any good to get rid of all spikes... :)
Has anyone nailed-down the cause of these spikes? It seems like it might be
due to the MRTG box being unable to contact the router, but I can't prove
it...
Thanks,
Schuyler

I have similar problem with spikes. Sometimes, when I make new configuration
and mrtg runs simultaneously.

Where I can get fix_bad_mrtg_logs.pl script?
I don't find him in contrib...
