Actually, in 2.9 and later releases, MRTG checks to see if SNMP V2 is
specified. if V2 is specified, and only an ifindex value is listed as the
OID, then ifHCInOctets/IfHCOutOctets is used. If V1, the
IfInOctets/IfOutOctets, and if a full OID is specified then it figures that
one out separately.
To specify V2, do, for example:
target[foo]: #GI3/0:public at router:::::2
I forget what all of the various snmp modifiers are - I have to read the
module whenever I play with them, but the 5th one is version number....
