[mrtg] indexmaker filter usage (regex)

Hi,

from the manpage for indexmaker I learned that I can use regular
expressions.
For example, I use this:
indexmaker --filter name=~\(x.x.x.\|^10.6.\) blabla
(x.x.x stands for public addresses I do not want to publish here)
But this matches also for targets with name "192.168.10.6".
What is the correct syntax?
mrtg 2.9.4 and perl 5.6.0.
